OAKLAND -- A pedestrian and two occupants of a car exchanged dozens of gunshots Tuesday morning outside some East Oakland businesses but no one was apparently injured and no arrests were made, police said.

One business did have a window shattered.

The shooting happened about 8:56 a.m. in the 6600 block of Bancroft Avenue near Havenscourt Boulevard.

Police said a man was walking on the sidewalk when two occupants of a car going westbound on Bancroft began exchanging gunfire with him.

Police said more than three dozens shots were fired. All three gunmen fled before police arrived. A witness told officers the rear window of the car the two men were in was shattered by bullets but neither the car occupants or the man on the street had sought treatment for any wounds as of Tuesday afternoon.

Police have not ruled out the possibility the shooting was drug related.

A nail shop on the block, which was not opened at the time, had a window shattered by the gunfire. The owners opened later in the day.
