PITTSBURG -- A parolee who died after fleeing police and crashing his pickup truck in a wreck that also claimed the life of his passenger was ruled to have caused the woman's death in an inquest by the Contra Costa Sheriff-Coroner.

Jacquay Jackson, 26, of Concord died hours after the 10:40 a.m. crash on Oct. 31, 2011. Jackson's passenger, 47-year-old Pittsburg resident Rita Montes-Martinez, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred at the intersection of Buchanan Road and Railroad Avenue.

Pittsburg police pursued Jackson at speeds of up to 80 mph as he drove west on Buchanan before colliding with the SUV. Jackson's truck careened onto a hedge and retaining wall. The occupants of the SUV were seriously injured.
