ANTIOCH -- Almost 4,000 customers in Oakley and Antioch lost power Thursday after a vehicle crashed into a power pole, a PG&E spokesman said.

The wreck occurred at Empire Avenue and Laurel Road around 9:35 p.m. and initially caused about 3,920 customers to lose power, PG&E media spokesman J.D. Guidi said. Details of the wreck were not immediately available.

About 2,200 customers had their power restored within the first hour, but there was no timetable for when the rest of the power would be restored, Guidi said. Multiple crews were on the scene still assessing the damage, he said.
