SAN LEANDRO -- Officers arrested a man in a stolen truck Sunday afternoon that police said was taken during an Oakland carjacking.

Police arrested Matthew Gonzalez, 29, of San Leandro in the 100 block of Castro Street in San Leandro shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday after computer technology alerted the officer that the white GMC truck had been reported stolen, police said.

After following the truck a short distance, two men jumped out of the truck and ran. Three officers quickly detained them, police said.

Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and suspicion of possession of burglary tools. The passenger was identified and released at the scene, police said.

Police said the GMC truck was stolen out of Oakland during a carjacking where the suspect was armed with a handgun. It was not immediately known if Gonzalez was involved in the Oakland carjacking. No weapon was recovered during his arrest. More details on the carjacking were not immediately available.
