CONCORD -- The city council, which recently took control of the Mt. Diablo Health Care District board, is scheduled on Tuesday to appoint members to the new board.

In August, the Local Agency Formation Commission disbanded the health care district's five-member elected board and reassigned it to the city of Concord. The city now has the responsibility of spending the roughly $200,000 in property tax revenue the health care district generates. The new district is smaller but still includes Concord and Pleasant Hill.

Concord is allowed to appoint three members, while Pleasant Hill appoints two. Concord earlier appointed Councilwoman Laura Hoffmeister to a three-year term on the board.

On Tuesday, council will appoint one person to a one-year term and another to a two-year term. The applicants are Ernesto Avila, Kenneth Edgecombe, Bill Gram-Reefer, Jeannette Green, Kandi Lancaster, Carol Longshore, Vivian Miller and Mark Weinmann.

Council meets at 7 p.m. at 1950 Parkside Drive.
