HAYWARD -- Passengers on three BART lines can expect delays this afternoon after a man threatened to jump onto the tracks, police said.

Officers were called at 1:17 p.m. to the Hayward BART station for reports of a suicidal man hanging over a platform, said Lt. Tyrone Forte.

"After some time we were able to get him off the platform," Forte said. The man was transported to local hospital to be evaluated.

Trains are back in service, but passengers on the Fremont, Richmond and San Francisco International Airport lines can expect a 15-minute delay for the next 30 minutes, a dispatcher said.
