BAY POINT -- A woman walking on a trail near the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station was sexually assaulted Monday morning, police said.
The attack happened around 6 a.m. on the Delta DeAnza Regional Trail between Alves Avenue and Clearland Drive, East Bay Regional Park police Lt. John King said.
Police said the suspect emerged from brush armed with a knife and threw the woman to the ground, placed a knife to her throat and told her to keep quiet while he attacked her.
The woman continued to scream and struggle while the attack took place, police said, and she was able to get away, running east on the trail.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 40 years old, wearing a black leather jacket, black hoodie, black pants and black shoes, police said. The woman told police her attacker was wearing black leather gloves and riding a blue mountain bike.
