An East Contra Costa-based nonprofit for homeless animals is offering reduced adoption fees for cats and kittens at local pet stores this weekend.
The Homeless Animals Response Program, or HARP, is giving the felines away for free with a donation to the organization.
The normal price for a cat is $100.
All of the cats are spayed or neutered, tested for FELV and FIV, immunized, and micro-chipped, according to a HARP news release.
The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 4655 Century Blvd., Pittsburg, and Sunday at PetSmart, 5879 Lone Tree Way, Antioch, and Pet Food Express, 5829 Lone Tree Way, Antioch. The event will continue the subsequent weekends until the 70 cats HARP has available are adopted.
