ANTIOCH -- An urgent care clinic that allows insured East Contra Costa residents to receive treatment for non-life-threatening illnesses will now be open longer.
Sutter Urgent Care Antioch, in the Bluerock Center at 4053 Lone Tree Way, is now open 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends -- one extra hour per day.
"Increasing our operating hours helps patients with non-life-threatening conditions receive the necessary care they need when their primary care physician is not available," Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation Chief Executive Officer Gary Zufelt said in a news release.
The clinic has also added a counter to its website, www.suttereastbay.org/urgentcare, that gives an estimated wait time based on patients already in a room.
Staff physicians at the urgent care clinic can treat patients with illnesses such as sore throat, cold and flu, vomiting, diarrhea, asthma, headaches, ear infections, urinary tract infections or back pain.
People with conditions such as severe bleeding, poisoning, chest pain or pressure, moderate to severe burns, convulsions, serious head, neck or back injury, or severe broken bones should go to the emergency room.
