SAN JOSE -- Authorities have arrested a 56-year-old woman they believe may be responsible for a string of 11 fires in garbage cans and bushes near homes south of Valley Medical Center.
Glynnis Sundelius of San Jose was taken into custody Saturday night after San Jose Fire Department investigators saw the woman setting a fire on Delna Manor Lane, said fire department spokeswoman Capt. Mary Gutierrez.
The investigators were staking out the area, which is off South Bascom Avenue about a quarter-mile south of the hospital, in response to suspicious fires that began breaking out in the neighborhood Sept. 26. The fire Saturday night was the 11th in 18 days, Gutierrez said. Even though all of the fires were set near homes, no structures were damaged in the suspected arson spree.
Authorities did not release any further information about the arrest or suspect.
