Font ResizeDrivers are encouraged to plan ahead by using 511 during the closure of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge this upcoming weekend and next weekend.
The Bay Area's traveler information service offers real-time and predicted traffic information, transit trip planning tools and updated transit departures, plus parking, carpool and bicycling information.
All lanes in both directions of the San Mateo Bridge are scheduled to be closed starting Friday, Oct. 19 at 10 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 22 at 5 a.m., and again the following weekend to make pavement repairs.
During the closing, 511 will offer a special page with updates, a map of detours, and information on transit service available. Go to
Detour routes include the Dumbarton Bridge, Highway 237 through the San Jose area and the Bay Bridge. For real-time conditions on these routes, call 511 and say "driving times." Allow extra time for travel due to the closure as well as sporting and other events taking place on those two weekends.
