PLEASANT HILL -- A man was arrested Thursday evening after fleeing from officers who spotted him driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

About 6:30 p.m., a patrol officer scanned the plate of a Honda sedan as it passed on Contra Costa Boulevard near Taylor Boulevard and found it had recently been reported stolen police said. Officers followed the Honda into the Gregory Village Shopping Center, where the car parked and two men leapt out and fled the parking lot.

Brian Griggs, 32, was arrested without incident at a Taco Bell on the 500 block of Contra Costa Boulevard after he fled from police into the restaurant, police said. Officers and police dogs searched the area for the second suspect, who fled west on Doris Drive, and we unable to locate the man.

Griggs was taken to county jail in Martinez, where he was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, delaying officers, an outstanding felony warrant and a parole violation, police said. Information about the outstanding suspect was not immediately known.
