PITTSBURG -- Police are seeking the public's help in finding out who shot and killed a 20-year-old man Sunday night.
Police responded to a caller saying that the man was lying in the street on the 100 block of West Buchanan Road just after 9 p.m., according to Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman. He had been shot in the abdomen and died before police arrived, Raman said.
The victim was identified Monday afternoon as Justin Lyles Gibbs by a coroner's deputy. Gibbs had recently moved to Pittsburg, having briefly lived in Concord after moving from Southern California, Raman said.
Detectives think Gibbs may have been walking through the area when he was confronted by at least one suspect, but they did not have a detailed description.
Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to call Pittsburg police at 925-427-7369.
