ANTIOCH -- A two-alarm garage fire early Saturday morning challenged firefighters, who had trouble accessing the property and couldn't find a nearby water supply.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

The blaze was reported about 1:22 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Melton Lane, according to a Contra Costa Fire District news release. The first responding engine crew reported seeing smoke and fire from a mile away.

The garage of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Seeing that there was not a nearby water supply, firefighters called in two water tender trucks to help fight the blaze.

Crews from Antioch managed to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring homes while firefighters from Pittsburg, Bay Point, Walnut Creek, Oakley and Discovery Bay responded to assist.

The fire was under control within an hour. The garage was a total loss.
