ANTIOCH -- A local car wash is hosting a fundraiser Wednesday to help needy animals in the city.
Pinky's Klassy Kar Wash is teaming up with Antioch Animal Services and K-9 Paw Print Rescue to make money from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at its 300 E. 18th St. location.
Those who want to contribute must mention the shelter or K9 when ordering their car wash.
Acceptable vehicles include RVs and motor homes, cars, boats, sport-utility vehicles, motorcycles and trucks.
The Antioch Animal Shelter has seen a rise in the number of owner-surrender, abandoned and abused pets who need assistance, officials said. Proceeds will directly support medical treatment or rehabilitation for animals that need it before they are able to be adopted into new homes.
Antioch is the lone Contra Costa city to have its own animal shelter.
