BRADFORD ISLAND -- Contra Costa marine patrol deputies arrested a Bethel Island man Thursday on suspicion of growing a small marijuana grow on the north side of Bradford Island, a spokesman said.

Santos Jose Ramirez, 57, was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and a probation violation Thursday afternoon, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said. Deputies, following up on an investigation involving an earlier boat stop, found about 30 pot plants on private property on Bradford Island. They removed the plants and booked them into evidence, Lee said.

The plants have an estimated street value of between $60,000 and $90,000.

Ramirez is being held in County Jail in Martinez with his bail set at $10,000, Lee said.
