RICHMOND -- Richmond High's gym was locked down Friday during the campus Homecoming dance after shots were fired nearby following a confrontation between two groups of teenagers, police said.
No one was injured.
Witnesses at the gym said shots rang out about 8:35 p.m. from an area about one block south of the school, located at 1250 23rd St.
A school official said the gym was locked shortly after the incident took place and that the lockdown was lifted at about 9 p.m.
The juveniles involved in the melee were not students, a security guard at the school said.
Police were on scene during the dance and responded to the incident and said shots were fired following an argument between two groups of juveniles.
It was not immediately known if anyone was arrested.
