DUBLIN -- Residents who hear explosions Friday near Santa Rita Jail need not fear: There isn't a daring jailbreak in progress. And in an even more likely scenario, no, the "Mythbusters" crew isn't firing cannons near your homes again.

Instead, a group of federal agencies, under the guidance of the Department of Homeland Security, will be training at the Alameda County Sheriff's facility. Explosions may be heard from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the immediate area and possibly throughout the city of Dublin, officials say.

The "Mythbusters" crew made headlines in December when an experiment for the hit TV show went awry, sending a 30-pound cannonball flying east from the sheriff's bomb disposal range into a nearby neighborhood. The cannonball smashed a hole into a home and landed on a minivan about 700 yards away from the range.

No one was injured. The show's hosts and producers pledged not to use the homemade cannon near populated areas again.
