EL CERRITO -- Teens and adults are invited to participate in concurrent summits Saturday focused on creating supportive schools for LGBTQ youth in Contra Costa County.
"A Day of Learning and Dialogue for Adult Allies" will include resources, workshops for parents and professionals who work with students, and panel discussions related to creating gender-inclusive schools and protecting students' rights. The concurrent Gay-Straight Alliance Leadership Summit for youth ages 13-24 will address bullying, student rights, and provide information about Gay-Straight Alliance clubs.
Both summits, which include lunch, are from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Harding Elementary, 7320 Fairmont Ave. in El Cerrito. The teen summit is free and the adult summit costs $10.
Registration deadline for the teen summit is 3 p.m. Friday. Adults can preregister or pay at the door.
