OAKLEY -- Residents have a chance to speak their mind this month about a proposed hike in their garbage rates.
The city of Oakley has scheduled a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 on an application by Oakley Disposal Service to raise rates for collecting garbage and recyclable materials.
The meeting is at City Hall, 3231 Main St.
Details of the proposal will be available Friday on the city's website, www.ci.oakley.ca.us.
Those wishing to submit written comments before the hearing can mail them to City Hall or email them to Finance Director Paul Abelson at email@example.com.
The city also is notifying residents that if they want to challenge a proposed rate hike in court, the arguments they raise might be limited to those they and others voiced during the public hearing or conveyed to the city in writing at or before that meeting.
