MARTINEZ -- A man was expected to survive a stabbing early Sunday morning during a brawl in front of a bar, police said.

The 26-year-old victim was stabbed in the arm around 1:30 a.m. in the 700 block Ferry Street while fighting with several people, said Martinez police Sgt. Steve Gaul.

Investigators said the victim, who suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, ran toward Main Street and the suspect may have escaped in a red Chevrolet pickup.

The assailant was a bald Caucasian man wearing a black shirt who appeared to be about 6-feet tall and weighed about 220 pounds, police said.
