WALNUT CREEK -- Four people were hospitalized for minor injuries today when a Rossmoor bus went off the roadway and hit a power pole, police said.

Crews responded at 10:55 a.m. to the crash on Rossmoor Parkway just inside the gates of the housing community. The 16-seat bus was driving northbound on Rossmoor when the driver went off the road, knocked down a power pole and came to rest against a tree, said Sgt. Brian McColgin.

Power lines were downed and the roadway was closed for about two hours after the crash.

All four passengers on the bus were hospitalized with minor injuries. The driver had a minor complaint of pain, but it wasn't immediately known if he was hospitalized. There was no evidence the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, McColgin said.
