CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

VOTERS BEWARE: Voters looking for their polling place locations should rely on official election sources or reliable organizations rather than third-party campaign mailers.

Residents in at least one Pleasant Hill household, and perhaps more, received over the weekend a slate mailer that contained the incorrect polling location.

Private companies sell space on slates to candidates and ballot measure campaigns, and sometimes include voter-specific polling place addresses.

The information may be wrong, so voters should look for their polling place and address listed in the official materials issued by the elections department.

In Contra Costa, voters may also look up their polling locations online at www.cocovote.us or call 925-335-7800. Alameda County voters may find the information at www.acgov.org/rov/ or call 510-267-8683.

Smartvoter.org, a site maintained by the League of Women Voters, is also highly reliable.
