OAKLEY -- A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run accident Saturday night that originated with a report of shots fired, police said.

Officers responded to a caller reporting that a person had been shot and was laying in the street about 9:08 p.m. in the 2400 block of Oakley Road, according to Chief Bani Kollo. When they arrived, they determined that the victim had been hit by a car, not shot.

The vehicle had fled the scene, officers found. The victim was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and is expected to recover, Kollo said.

Officers searched the area, but did not locate a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call Oakley police at 925-625-8060.
