A motorist and his passenger pulled over by a police officer for a traffic violation were arrested after a background check revealed that one was wanted on an outstanding warrant and the other had a pipe for smoking methamphetamine.

The arrests occurred about 11:35 p.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Road and Orion Street on Alameda Point.

While the man, 44, who had the pipe was released at the scene with a citation that provided him with a court date, his 30-year-old companion was booked at the North County Jail in Oakland over the misdemeanor warrant.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 31

  • ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -- An attempted burglary was reported about 8:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of High Street, where the suspects broke a window before fleeing when a neighbor questioned them, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle theft was reported about 8:10 p.m. in the 2500 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

    THURSDAY, NOV. 1

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A moped was reported stolen about 10:20 a.m. in the 1800 block of Shoreline Drive.

    FRIDAY, NOV. 2

  • DRUG POSSESSION -- Officers served a search warrant in the 2300 block of Haile Street, where they arrested a 31-year-old woman about 9:45 a.m. on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine packaged for sale. The woman also had drug paraphernalia, and marijuana was found at the residence, police said.

  • VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 10:20 a.m. in the 1000 block of Marina Village Parkway. Another vehicle was reported stolen at 12:35 p.m. in the 1700 block of Cambridge Drive.

  • ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON -- A man, 32, faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon after police said he stabbed his brother in the back of the neck with a folding knife during a fight on Palace Court. The man was also accused of resisting police because he did not comply with the commands of officers, police said. The arrest occurred about 1:15 p.m.

    SATURDAY, NOV. 3

  • VEHICLE THEFT ARREST -- Police arrested a 37-year-old motorist on suspicion of vehicle theft after a routine records check revealed that he was allegedly driving a stolen car during a traffic stop. The arrest occurred at 1:55 p.m. in the 1200 block of High Street. Details about the theft, including where it occurred, were not immediately available.

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- A woman, 31, whom a patrol officer pulled over shortly before midnight because she was driving erratically in the 2300 block of Otis Drive, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

  • ASSAULT -- A parolee was arrested shortly after midnight in the 2500 block of Santa Clara Avenue, where police said he kicked and punched a man during an altercation, leaving him with visible injuries. Along with facing an assault charge, the 38-year-old man was accused of violating the conditions of his parole and public intoxication.

    SUNDAY, NOV. 4

  • DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a man, 19, on suspicion of drunken driving about 1:20 a.m. after a traffic collision in the 2200 block of Encinal Avenue. The man was booked at the North County Jail in Oakland. Police also arrested another motorist, 27, on suspicion of the same offense after a traffic stop about 4:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Oak Street.

  • BURGLARY -- Police are investigating a report that two people stole money from a cash register in Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center. One suspect acted as a lookout while the second suspect reached into the register about 12:25 p.m. Police are classifying the case as a burglary since the theft occurred inside a building. In another case, a store employee placed two juveniles under citizen's arrest at 5:15 p.m. after police said they were caught shoplifting merchandise.

  • NARCOTICS POSSESSION -- Officers dispatched to investigate a report of possible suspicious activity in the 2200 block of Santa Clara Avenue arrested a woman, 33, on suspicion of possessing "hash oil," a concentrated substance derived from cannabis, police records show. The arrest occurred at 4:40 p.m.

  • ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT -- Someone who tried to steal a vehicle in the 800 block of Island Drive by tampering with the ignition still ended up stealing the vehicle's registration paperwork and title certificate, as well as tools. The attempt was reported about 8:10 p.m.
