Drivers should expect delays next week while traveling on Highway 4 through Pittsburg and Antioch, as eastbound traffic is shifted onto a newly completed bridge.
The lane shift will allow the contractor to start the construction of a new eastbound bridge, according to a Caltrans news release.
To accommodate the shift, all Highway 4 eastbound and westbound lanes and several ramps in the vicinity will periodically be closed to traffic overnight.
All westbound lanes of Highway 4 will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning between Lone Tree Way and Somersville Road or between Somersville and Loveridge Road. All eastbound lanes will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. Thursday.
Upon completion, Highway 4 will be widened from four to eight lanes from Loveridge to Highway 160.
