Warren Miles Long had a huge night as the third-seeded James Logan High football team opened the North Coast Section Division I playoffs with a 56-8 win over No. 14 Irvington at Tak Fudenna Stadium on Friday.

"We came out and did a tremendous job on both sides of the ball," Logan coach George Zuber said. "We wanted to give Long more reps on offense tonight and he had a phenomenal game for us."

With the win, the Colts (10-1) will host the winner of Saturday's Freedom/Berkeley game in the second round on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.

Long ran for 211 yards on just 10 carries and scored four touchdowns. He set the tone early for the Colts, scoring on a 67-yard run on Logan's first play from scrimmage just 2 minutes and 16 seconds into the game.

Quarterback Jeffrey Prothro then hit Amalani Fukofuka for touchdown strikes of 32 and 30 yards as the Colts opened up a 21-0 first quarter lead.

Fukofuka finished with six receptions for 176 yards and four touchdowns.

Irvington (4-7) broke the shutout when Mahmoud Eldesouky bulled his way from 1 yard out with 2:52 left in the game.

This was James Logan's first NCS win since 2007. The last four seasons, the Colts lost their first postseason game.

The Colts received the No. 2 seed for the Division I playoffs last season and had a first-round bye but lost in the quarterfinals to San Ramon Valley.
