KENTFIELD -- The second-seeded Marin Catholic High football team beat 15th-seeded Hercules 38-7 on Saturday in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division III playoffs.

Marin Catholic quarterback Jared Goff completed 15 of 25 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns. Goff completed passes to eight different receivers, led by Drew Celis (four catches, 103 yards)

"We've had a lot of guys step up this year," Goff said. "To be able to throw it to any guy I want through out the course of the game is just huge. Everyone's on the same page, everyone's on the same chemistry."

Hercules had a number of opportunities. The Titans opened the game with an 11-play drive that began from their own 9-yard line, but that drive ended on a Sam Killpack interception.

A 38-yard pitch-and-catch from QB Louis Michael to receiver Clarence Corbin set Hercules up with a first-and-goal on the Wildcats' 5, but another pick, this time by Jared Lazor, quelled another opportunity.

"You gotta know down and distance and you can't make that mistake with a team like this," Hercules coach Gerald Montgomery said. "You've got to take every opportunity and take advantage of it. You can't turn the ball over, we turned the ball over too many times."
