RICHMOND -- Police say they are investigating an incident involving a Richmond High School student and a campus security guard on Nov. 7 that resulted in the school district employee being placed on administrative leave.
School Principal Julio Franco reported the incident to a Richmond police officer stationed at the school, said Richmond Det. Nicole Abetkov.
"The incident reported was between a campus security officer employed by the district and a 10th grade student," Abetkov said. "The student was placed on suspension and the employee was placed on administrative leave, and we are conducting our investigation."
West Contra Costa Unified School District spokesman Marin Trujillo did not respond to requests for comment.
"The district is conducting it's own investigation, also," Abetkov said.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m., Abetkov said. She would not confirm whether the incident was a physical confrontation between the student and the security guard, both of whom are male.
"We are currently conducting follow-up interviews," Abetkov said.
