A Bay Point teenager and a Walnut Creek man were behind bars Wednesday, suspected of burglarizing a home in an unincorporated area of Contra Costa County near Lafayette.
Around 2:22 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to the 3100 block of La Playa Court after a homeowner called to alert police he had just seen two burglary suspects fleeing through the back part of his home, Contra Costa Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Lee said several sheriff's deputies and a K-9 unit quickly responded to the home and set up a perimeter as they began searching for the suspects.
Lafayette and Pleasant Hill police officers were also called to help in the search.
About a half-hour after the homeowner called the Sheriff's Office, one suspect was caught on the hillside behind the home and detained, Lee said. The second suspect was arrested about 45 minutes later.
Most of the items taken from the home have been recovered, Lee said, and both suspects are currently behind bars.
One suspect, a 17-year-old Bay Point resident, was taken to juvenile hall in Martinez.
Walnut Creek resident Sean James, 20, was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
James and his teenage accomplice were both arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiring to commit a crime.
