ANTIOCH -- Those who take Somersville Road to head through the city may want to start finding alternative routes.

The contractor for the project to widen Highway 4 from four to eight lanes through Antioch will be demolishing the old eastbound bridge at Somersville, which will force the closure of all lanes of the road overnight for the next few weeks, according to a Caltrans news release.

Starting Sunday, work will be done from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday night and Saturday mornings. However, no closures will occur between this Thursday through Sunday because of Thanksgiving.

Drivers will be detoured to Century and Delta Fair boulevards, and should allow extra time for their commute.
