CONCORD -- Police on Tuesday arrested a man who was suspected a of robbing a bank branch inside a supermarket last week.

Clayton Hill, 24, of Concord, was arrested without incident after a vehicle stop around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on westbound Highway 4 near Highway 680, police said. Detectives had obtained a warrant for his arrest earlier in the day.

Hill is suspected of robbing the U.S. Bank branch inside the Safeway market at 2600 Willow Pass Road. Police say about 1 p.m. Nov. 13, Hill entered the store and handed the teller a note demanding cash.

Hill did not show a weapon, police said. He is being held at the West County Jail in Richmond on $100,000 bail on suspicion of robbery.
