ANTIOCH -- Highway 4 will be closed in the early morning hours early next week through the city as construction crews continue to work on widening the road.
All westbound lanes of Highway 4 will be closed between Lone Tree Way and Contra Loma Boulevard from 11 p.m. Monday night to 3 a.m. Tuesday morning as the contractor removes overhead signs at the G Street overcrossing, according to a Caltrans news release.
All eastbound lanes on the same stretch will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from midnight to 4 a.m.
Westbound motorists will be directed off the highway at Lone Tree and down 18th Street to L Street. Eastbound drivers will be directed off the freeway at Contra Loma and down Fitzuren Road and Putnam Street before re-entering the freeway at Lone Tree.
Motorists should allow extra time for commutes.
