HERCULES -- An El Sobrante man who died after his BMW crashed into a big rig early Sunday morning on Interstate 80 was identified Monday.

Police said 23-year-old Marcos Perez crashed the BMW about 2:20 a.m. while going westbound near Willow Avenue. The crash also left the car's passenger, a 21-year-old San Pablo man, with major injuries. Police did not have an update on his condition Monday.

The 42-year-old Castro Valley man behind the wheel of the truck and a 41-year-old Hayward man in the passenger seat were not injured, police said. The men in the big rig and the BMW were wearing seat belts.
