Matthew McConaughey has pretty much been vanishing before our eyes the past few months. But he says there's nothing to worry about.

"I feel fine. I really do," McConaughey, 43, told the Daily Beast, saying his quest to lose nearly 40 pounds from his chiseled 183-pound frame was healthy, disciplined and well thought-out.

He probably said the same thing about the whole naked bongo episode.

The dramatic weight loss was needed to play HIV-positive Ron Woodruff in the upcoming film "Dallas Buyers Club."

"I'm eating fresh fish. I'm just eating small amounts. I'm not being starved," said the actor, who also says he's sleeping well. "If anything, it's as much a spiritual journey as it is physical."

I don't know. You see a lot of big beefy people in church.

Though his body's "fine," McConaughey says, "Everything has shrunk quite a bit. ... I don't have the leverage I used to. I have body soreness. But I'm as healthy as can be. My blood pressure, everything's fine."

Everything shrunk? Uh ...

McConaughey said getting back to his normal weight will be tricky, as he risks getting a form of diabetes.

"You can't just start eating cheeseburgers and ice cream," he said. "Your body will go into shock."
