ANTIOCH -- A child and an adult were injured Friday when a Jeep Cherokee spun out and hit other cars on the wet roads of Highway 4, the California Highway Patrol said.
The wreck happened around 12:51 p.m. in the westbound direction at the Highway 4 Bypass just east of the Hillcrest Avenue exit, according to the CHP. Details regarding the injuries were not available; officials had previously said only one person was injured.
Officials said a small child was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland, and an adult was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Brentwood.
None of the injuries were considered severe, the CHP said, and the agency could not confirm early witness statements that the child had been thrown from a car.
Originally, the CHP stated that the wreck involved only the jeep. But two other vehicles in the vicinity also were damaged, and the second hospitalized person was in a car other than the jeep, the CHP said.
No other details were expected to be released, the CHP said.
