DUBLIN -- A free Christmas tree light trade-in event on Saturday will allow consumers to have trees glow with less energy during the holidays.
East Bay residents can trade in their old-style Christmas tree lights for energy efficient mini LED ones at 11 a.m. Saturday at On the Border restaurant in the Hacienda Crossings shopping center, 4840 Dublin Blvd.
For each strand of lights turned in, consumers can get a free strand of LED lights until supplies run out, or 2 p.m.
To be eligible to participate, consumers must bring a copy of their PG&E bill proving they live in Alameda or Contra Costa County. The event is sponsored by Rising Sun Energy Center, a Berkeley-based nonprofit that promotes energy efficiency,
