BRENTWOOD -- Drivers thinking of having a drink or two, be wary.

The Brentwood Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint from 7 p.m. Dec. 14 to 1 a.m. Dec. 15 on Sand Creek Road near Shady Willow Lane.

Officers will check drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Officers will also check drivers for proper licensing. Delays for motorists should only be momentary.

Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases. Fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000 for those arrested.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
