Oakland police pursued a stolen car suspect through the streets of East Oakland on Monday night.

The chase ended with the suspect being taken into custody, but not before he crashed the car and injured a pedestrian, Officer J. Moore said.

Officers first tried to stop the suspect in a car reported stolen near the intersection of 60th and Bancroft avenues at 8:07 p.m. The ensuing chase ended nearly a mile and a half away in the 4200 block of Bond Street.

The pedestrian injured was transported to a hospital with a complaint of pain.
