LAFAYETTE -- City Manager Steven Falk was given a $6,730 bonus by the city council, and a "bonus pool" of about $30,000 established to be paid out before Jan. 1.
The performance bonus actions, taken without public council discussion, are an option "from time to time and when the city's municipal budget can support it."
A resident submitted a letter to city leaders questioning the bonuses and asking officials to allocate the money toward fixing a sinkhole that formed Dec. 2 on Mountain View Drive, repairing roads or other projects. There was no other public comment.
The council Monday night also swore in new council members Traci Reilly and Mark Mitchell and incumbent Mike Anderson to four-year terms before selecting Anderson as mayor and Councilman Don Tatzin as vice mayor. Anderson and Tatzin will serve one-year terms in those positions.
