A San Leandro resident helped that city's police nab an Alameda man wanted in connection with an October stabbing, officials said.
Victor Aaron Crow, 22, is in custody at Santa Rita Jail, charged with the Oct. 14 stabbing in the arm of a man on East 14th Street in San Leandro, police said. According to investigators, a man and woman were arguing about 10 p.m., when the victim tried to intervene and was stabbed.
A San Leandro resident notified authorities about Crow's whereabouts on Nov. 30 after recognizing him from a photo that police had released earlier that month as part of an appeal for information.
Officers arrested Crow in the 2200 block of Marina Drive, just west of Doolittle. He is being held on $100,000 bail and a pre-trial hearing is set for Dec. 17 at the Hayward Hall of Justice, jail records show.
FRIDAY, DEC. 7 VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen just before 7 a.m. in the 1300 block of Lafayette Street. Police also recovered a vehicle reported stolen in Oakland about 10 a.m. in the first block of Garden Road. BURGLARY -- Someone entered a residence in the 1600 block of Concordia Street via an unlocked window and stole a Playstation system and six games. The burglary was reported about 6:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, DEC. 8 PETTY THEFT -- Security at Kohl's at Alameda South Shore Center placed a woman, 20, and a 15-year-old girl under citizen's arrest on suspicion of petty theft after they allegedly shoplifted merchandise. The arrests occurred just after 6 p.m.
SUNDAY, DEC. 9 COCAINE POSSESSION -- A man arrested for public intoxication was found in possession of suspected cocaine while he was being booked at the North County Jail in Oakland, police said. Officers initially contacted the 35-year-old man about 12:15 a.m. in the 1500 block of Park Street, where they said he was involved in a disturbance. BURGLARY -- A laptop was stolen during a burglary of a residence in the 300 block of Jack London Avenue. The thief got inside via an unlocked door. It was reported about 12:20 a.m. An attempted burglary was also reported just before 10 a.m. in the 400 block of Central Avenue, where someone pried a door handle to try and enter an apartment. POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY -- A man who officers detained because he was spotted crouched behind a garbage container about 2:20 a.m. at a gas station in the 1700 block of Park Street was in possession of items stolen from three unlocked vehicles a short time earlier, police said. The man, 25, was also under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, police said. MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- Two men who police initially contacted while investigating a disturbance in the 1300 block of Park Avenue were each arrested on suspicion of possessing less than once ounce of marijuana. The men, who are ages 27 and 28, were released at the scene with a citation. It happened about 10:15 p.m.
MONDAY, DEC. 10 OUTSTANDING WARRANT -- A man who police contacted as a suspicious person as he sat in a vehicle with expired registration about 12:50 a.m. was arrested after a background check revealed that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a weapons violation stemming from an Oakland police case. Police also towed the vehicle following the man's arrest in the 1800 block of Wood Street because the registration was expired more than six months. VEHICLE THEFT ARREST -- A teenage boy who fled on foot after a patrol officer pulled him over for running a stop sign in a stolen vehicle faces multiple charges, including driving without a license, police said. The teen was arrested about 3:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Fernside Boulevard, or about a block from where he abandoned the vehicle, police said. VEHICLE THEFT -- A vehicle was reported stolen about 9:10 p.m. at Pacific Avenue and Park Street. MARIJUANA POSSESSION -- A traffic stop shortly after 10 p.m. in the 2300 block of Clement Avenue led to the arrest of a man, 20, on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale. Another motorist, 33, was arrested about the same time in the 1700 block of Jay Street after he was found allegedly in possession of suspected hydrocodone pills. The man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant and was driving with a suspended license.
TUESDAY, DEC. 11 DRUNKEN DRIVING -- Police arrested a woman, 23, on suspicion of drunken driving following a traffic accident in the 700 block of Buena Vista Avenue, where she allegedly failed sobriety tests. VEHICLE THEFT ARREST -- A 58-year-old man faces a vehicle theft charge after police said he led them on a brief pursuit after he acted as the getaway driver for another man, who attempted to cash a forged check at Chase bank on Otis Drive. While police arrested the driver about 5:40 p.m. after he pulled over, the suspect in the forgery cash ran off and eluded officers. A records check revealed the vehicle was stolen in Emeryville. The man was also booked on suspicion of creckless driving and resisting police.
