SAN LEANDRO -- Masked gunmen brazenly stormed a busy Walmart on Monday afternoon, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 2:53 p.m. to the 1900 block of Davis Drive, just east of Doolittle Drive after multiple reports of a robbery in progress at the business, said Lt. Randy Brandt

When police arrived, the armed suspects had already fled the store.

No one was injured in the heist, Brandt said.

Witnesses told officers that two suspects wearing bandanas over their face entered the store and demanded the store's money at gunpoint.

The store's employees cooperated and the suspects fled from the front doors of the store heading north, Brandt said.

Police described the suspects as black or Hispanic males, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and between 18-25 years old. Both men wore dark hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans.

"We are thankful that nobody was hurt during this robbery and that everyone in the store cooperated," Brandt said. "This is unusual for a large retail store to be targeted during peak business hours when it was filled with holiday shoppers."

The armed robbery remained under investigation on Tuesday.
