SAN LEANDRO -- San Leandro park visitors will see picnic area reservation rates rise and fall by as much as $75 in 2013.
City staff project the changes, approved unanimously by city council members Monday night, will increase revenue by $3,800.
Nonresidents will see the largest increase at picnic areas with a capacity between 75 and 150 people, where rates will increase from $188 at some spaces to $263 daily. Nonresidents will also see the largest fee decrease, from $158 at some sites with a capacity under 40 people, to $83 per day in 2013.
Among the changes, city residents will pay a standard $55 to reserve picnic areas with capacities under 40 people, an increase of $10 for some areas and a decrease of $50 at others. Residents will pay a standard $175 per day for areas accommodating 75 and 150 people, $20 to $50 more than current rates.
City staff said 20 of the city's 74 picnic areas will not see rental fees change.
Picnic areas in San Leandro can be reserved from April through October. Reservations will be accepted beginning Jan. 14. Spaces not reserved remain open to the public.
