Police say this man robbed a US Bank in Belmont Tuesday.

BELMONT -- Police released photos of a man in an orange knit cap they say held up a bank and escaped Tuesday.

The man walked into the US Bank on Ralston Avenue just before noon, demanded cash and then got away with an undisclosed sum, said Belmont police Lt. Pat Halleran.

No one was hurt in the robbery, Halleran said.

Bank workers said the robber was a white man who appeared to be 25-35 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall and was clean shaved. In addition to the knit cap, he also wore a dark gray or black winter coat.

Not long after the crime, witnesses saw a silver sedan speeding southbound on 6th Avenue from Hill Street, which is near the bank, police said. It's not clear if the car was connected to the robbery.
