A woman was rescued from the Mare Island Strait on Tuesday after possibly jumping off the Causeway bridge, Vallejo firefighters said.
Authorities were dispatched to a call of a possible jumper on the Mare Island Causeway, the bridge connecting Vallejo and Mare Island, at about 4:45 p.m.
The woman, 51, of Vallejo was in the water by the time firefighters and police arrived.
According to the city's website, the bridge is about 12.4 feet above the water surface.
The U.S. Coast Guard was then called in to help rescue the woman, who had been in the water as long as 15 minutes and was conscious. She was taken to an area trauma center, firefighters said.
It was unclear if she had jumped off the bridge or fell in, firefighters added.
Vallejo police said on average they receive reports of a jumper from Mare Island Causeway Bridge about once a year.
