Memorial services were held Saturday for 72-year-old Fred Richardson, a victim of last week's bus crash on Highway 38 north of Yucaipa that killed eight people, at Loma Linda Filipino Seventh-day Adventist Church in Redlands.

Richardson, a longtime resident of Mountain Home Village east of the crash site, was driving home on the highway when he was struck by the tour bus carrying tourists from San Diego and Tijuana.

The bus, owned by Scapadas Magicas Tours in National City, was returning from Big Bear Lake when its driver, Norberto Perez, lost control of the vehicle above the Mill Creek Ranger Station, authorities said.

Seven others also died and more than two dozen were injured.

In addition to Richardson, the other fatal victims of the crash were Guadalupe Olivas, 61, Elvira Garcia Jimenez, 40 and Victor Cabrera Garcia, 13, all of San Diego, and Aleida Adriana Arce Hernandez, 38, Rubicelia Escobedo Flores, 34, Mario Garcia Santoyo, 32, and Liliana Camerina Sanchez Sauceda, 24, all of Tijuana.

Richardson leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Anita, two adult children and six grandchildren.
