PITTSBURG -- A 60-year-old man was in critical condition after he was hit Thursday night by a driver who fled the scene, police said.

The collision was reported just after 6:30 p.m. on Leland Road at Bailey Avenue, according to Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman. The man was walking across Leland when he was hit by an older model truck, Raman said.

Officers found the man on the street, breathing but not responsive, with injuries to his upper extremities, Raman said. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was in critical condition Friday morning.

The driver had left the scene before officers arrived, Raman said. The truck is likely to have damage to the driver's side and the front end.
