The alt-rock band Jimmy Eat World, the L.A. based surf-pop duo Best Coast, former Paul McCartney guitarist and multi-Grammy-winner Laurence Juber and San Pedro musical icon Mike Watt & the Secondmen will be the big draw at this year's Record Store Day, April 20, at Fingerprints, 420 E. Fourth St., in the East Village.

Record Store Day is the Christmas season for independent record stores across the nation, as bands promote their new works and stores bring out rare and limited-edition records to celebrate the essence of the neighborhood record shop. Fingerprints founder and owner Rand Foster has been at the vanguard of the success of independent stores that have outlasted the big chains and continue to hold their own against online stores and downloadable music.

Last year, Fingerprints hosted M. Ward, the Beach Boys' Al Jardine and World Party, and in 2010, the Foo Fighters performed their then-new record "Wasting Light" in its entirety on the Fingerprints stage.
