RICHMOND -- A former Richmond elementary school aide pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting nine of his students during the 2010-2011 school year, according to Contra Costa prosecutors.
Jeffrey Jones, 58, of Richmond pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd acts upon children under the age of 14 that occurred between Sept. 10, 2010 and May 9, 2011, according to the District Attorney's Office. His plea agreement calls for five years in state prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender, the prosecution said. His formal sentencing is set for July 9.
Jones molested nine girls at Richmond College Prep elementary school, a charter school -- mostly over-the-clothing touching, according to prosecutors, but also with some claims of under-the-clothing touching. All the victims were between 7 and 10 years old.
A few of the Jane Does wrote letters to the principal alerting the administration that they had been touched inappropriately, prosecutors said, leading to a Richmond police investigation.
Late calls and emails to the charter school that serves students in the Iron Triangle area of Richmond were not returned.
