RICHMOND -- A man died Sunday after crashing his car on Interstate 580, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the two-door Mazda was traveling west on the freeway near the Central Avenue exit at about 10 p.m. when, for reasons not yet known, he lost control, crashing through a chain-link fence and flipping multiple times, the CHP said.
The car came to a rest on its roof on adjacent railroad tracks. The man, who was ejected from the car, died at the scene, authorities said.
His name was not available Monday.
